At the shop, Kleya works out front assisting customers and restoring precious artifacts. But when called upon, she is the perfect emissary, messenger, and enforcer for Luthen's spy operation, with a highly attuned intuition and unflinching commitment to the rebel cause.

Saved from a war zone as a child by Luthen Rael, Kleya learned about antiques and negotiating early in life. After they both witnessed the evils of the Empire firsthand, Luthen warned Kleya that to beat the Empire they must be willing to lose again and again until they were ready. Kleya later hid her hatred for the Empire behind the friendly face of Luthen’s assistant in his gallery of antiquities on Coruscant.

While Luthen entertained customers out front, Kleya worked in the back, using a hidden radio to communicate with members of Luthen’s fledgling rebel network. Secrecy and loyalty were of paramount importance to Kleya, who viewed her and Luthen’s risky actions through a lens of hardened reality that included only success or failure.

After the rebel heist of the Imperial payroll from an Aldhani base, Kleya met with Vel Sartha to ask her to kill Cassian Andor, whom she considered a loose end with too much knowledge about Luthen. She later convinced Luthen to shut down communications with Ferrix to protect their future actions.

Later, after Cassian was integrated into Luthen’s rebel cell, Kleya joined Luthen at the wedding of Mon Mothma’s daughter, until she left to try to contact Cassian and the team on Mina-Rau.

When Kleya learned that a listening device she had planted in a piece of art owned by Chandrilan banker Davo Sculdun was at risk of being discovered, Kleya hatched a plan to retrieve it. With the reluctant help of ISB supervisor and undercover rebel Lonni Jung, Kleya extracted the recording device during Sculdun’s party under the nose of several of his guests, including ISB Director Orson Krennic.

To help Cassian Andor orchestrate Mon Mothma’s escape after her provocative speech to the Imperial Senate, Kleya fabricated Senate credentials for him. Later, she met with Cassian, Mothma, and other rebels at an Axis network safehouse as all but Kleya awaited transport off-planet.

Things began to fall apart after Kleya received an emergency message from Lonni Jung, an undercover rebel spy. Luthen shared his intel with Kleya: the Empire was secretly building a superweapon with ties to Ghorman, the kyber crystals on Jedha, and the Imperial scientist Galen Erso. Shortly afterward, Kleya witnessed the aftermath of Luthen’s failed arrest resulting from a confrontation with ISB supervisor Dedra Meero.

To save Luthen from the pain of interrogation and to protect his secrets, Kleya snuck into the hospital where Luthen was being held and turned off the machine keeping him alive. Kleya then sent an emergency message for help, and returned with Cassian Andor, K-2SO, and Ruescott Melshi to the rebel base on Yavin 4. Despite her concerns of being accepted there, as many Yavin leaders thought poorly of Luthen’s methods, Vel convinced Kleya that she had found a new home where she could continue her fight against the Empire.
